Only A Couple More Days Left....

Giving is Awesome!
Hey guys, I've gotten several nominations for my Giving is Awesome project. Thanks to all who have nominated someone else. I just want to encourage everyone, if you haven't nominated someone yet open your hearts and let me know if you know of those who would benefit from this photo session. I'm looking forward to Christmas Eve to reveal the results. Thank you for allowing me to participate in this project.

I've been thinking about offering photography to someone who needed it this Christmas. I then discovered the Giving is Awesome project, a worldwide project of photographers giving away custom photography. At present there are more than 300 photographers offering over $300,000 in free photography. . I want to be able to share my photography with someone who will benefit from it, but otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it.

So this is how it works.

You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography -- $200 worth, to be exact. Whether it's canvas or prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.
Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $50 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?
The rules:
* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services.
* The nominee must reside in the TriCounty Area or be willing to met me. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
* You must e-mail me the full story : misty@mistywilsonphotography.com
The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve -- get nominating! I can't wait to read all of your entries!
Open your heart to someone this holiday season -- and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,
Misty

The Polar Express

If you haven't been on this Christmas Adventure it's a must! We went this weekend, and Dru and Cooper had a ball. This is something we will continue from year to year, I'm sure. With the kids in their pj's and house coats, we boarded a train for a 30 min ride to the North Pole, while sipping hot chocolate and eating snacks from Santa's helpers along the way. We listened, as the Polar Express was read; some of us had books and followed along. (If you go on this trip I highly recommend taking a copy of the book, the boys loved to follow along with the reading.) We made it to a village light up with tons of Christmas lights and saw Santa in the sleigh with all the reindeer. Santa boarded our train and made his way from car to car. It was exciting to watch the boys, when they knew Santa was getting closer. Finally, Santa arrived in our car and made his way through handing out jingle bells to the kids. He posed for a picture with Dru and Cooper then headed throughout the rest of the train. On the way back from the North Pole we sang Christmas Carols and rang our jingle bells. Wow, what a night! I don't think Dru and Cooper will forget it for a long time.

Blog Comments

I've had several people tell me they have tried to comment on this blog before and weren't able, because it was asking for a user name and password. Well I think I've figured out the problem, so if you want to leave comments you should be able to now. Let me know if you run into any problems. Thanks to everyone for talking time to read the blog, hopefully we can work together soon.

Sample Cards

I love this card, but I guess I need a picture with the whole family in it. lol Anyways, you get the idea of what it looks like. Check out the website to see more cards.

A couple more things...

#1-I have some Christmas cards posted on the website, mistywilsonphotography.com so check them out.
#2-Completely off subject but thought I would throw it out there hopefully someone can use them. Dru and Cooper are now in "big boy, bunk beds" with that said I have two, yes two Crib/Changing table-dresser sets. Both are the convertible cribs which transform from cribs to day beds, then to full size beds. One set is a dark cherry wood and the other is a light oak wood color. Both sets are in almost new condition, I don't see any scratches or scuff marks on either. I also have matteresses for both if you are interested in them. As far as the crib sets go, I have a firetruck set (bedding, curtain, pillows, firetruck rug, firetruck lamp and wood firetruck toybox)and a farm set (bedding, curtains, pictures frames. wooden barn bookcase) I also have a wooden Eddie Bauer high chair. If you are interested in any of these items, please email me at misty@mistywilsonphotography.com

Busy, Busy, Bee

Wow, what can I say other than this has been a very busy past couple of weeks. So, what I have been working on, lets see....I've got some holiday cards I'll get posted within the next couple of days. These cards are sooooo cute, I'm super excited about sending mine out this year. I just need the perfect picture to go along with the perfect card.

I'm also planning a date, in the next two weeks or so to do "Santa sessions" I'll post the particulars on this as soon as all of the details are finalized. In the meantime, I've had a couple people ask me about coming to their houses to do pictures in front of their own tree, so if this is something anyone else is interested in let me know (you can email me misty@mistywilsonphotography.com) and we can arrange a date and time.
